The last snow reserves are slowly but steadily melting away in the valleys. That’s why a last minute decision has been made to move the Dachstein Summer Opening 2011 forward to the 16th of April 2011! Is the Shapecrew able to build the whole park until Saturday? – The battle against the time has already started!

Snow, snow and even more snow – since Monday a total amount of unbelievable 2.80m (9.2 ft) of fresh snow has covered the Dachstein in complete white. As many as 4 backbreaking times the shapecrew had to dig the whole setup out of the masses of fresh snow – a work that definitely caused frayed nerves.

Nevertheless, the crew was also able to make great progress at the buildup of the park. All obstacles have been set into place – which was definitely not the easiest thing to do during this heavy weather conditions. The tasks which still have to be done are part of the so called “fine-tuning”. Some rails and boxes still need to get branded as well as the landing of the special obstacle kicker has to be finished.

Park designer Andi Röck is already more optimistic today, so if nothing comes in way, all shredders can expect a beaming white and perfectly shaped Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein at the opening tomorrow: “Anything can always happen – but unless a winter storm blows away all our boxes, it looks like we are able to complete the buildup works until the opening!”

See you tomorrow!!!
