TWS hit the Unbound Park at Mammoth Mountain, California, with a diverse and expert crew of 18 testers and rode ’til we were spent. Jump lines, jib lines, 3,100 vertical feet of freeriding—we tackled it all under a bevy of conditions during a one-week window. Each run is an investigation into all the new tech, shapes, and flex. Every board is critiqued on 17 characteristics from nollie pop and flex, to stability, sidecut, and more. All said and done, the crew grinds about 450 boards down to 40 choice decks. After long days of hard riding, countless laps, and nearly a thousand scorecards crunched, TWS bring you the 2012 Good Wood Women’s Allmountain boards over 400$ results. Enjoy!

Arbor Swoon ($440)

Loaded with enough tech to leave any lady light-headed, the Swoon design fuses a gradually reducing rocker shape with multi-contact-point edges for float in powder and edge control on groomers. Drawn out tips keep the nose from dipping on even the deepest days. Bamboo veneers in the topsheet offset the pop often lost on rocker boards, and a wax-infused sintered base keeps it moving across the flats.

Tester Feedback: “This is an awesome all-around board. It would be especially great in pow, but it butters, presses, and jumps well too.”

Sizes: 147, 151, 155

Rome Lo-Fi Rocker ($430)

Forged around a brand-new camber profile for Rome called Freepop, the Lo-Fi features a flat mid-section that rolls into rocker on the nose and tail. The blend produces a board with a lot of ability. It’s got rail balance-ability, butter-ability, carve-ability, and pow float-ability to name a few. Underfoot, V-shaped bands of Kevlar and basalt add pop-ability. Straight-biax laminate fiberglass in the core gives it torsional flexibility. What more could you want?

Tester Feedback: “It rides awesome off piste as well as in the park. A lot of fun. Definitely for an aggressive rider, but still user friendly.”

Sizes: 143, 146, 149, 152, 154

Rossignol Diva ($450)

A directional twin equipped with the best Rossignol tech. The Freestyle Amptek center-camber-to rocker-outward combo takes on any audience including bumps, steeps, pow, and park booters. Meanwhile, rolling Magne-traction edges slice through chunder. Deep inside the core, a marriage of wood to Kevlar and Carbon fiber ensures lasting performance as those runs stack up.

Tester Feedback: “A real treat. It gave me everything I needed. It has sick edge hold and is stable on steep, rough conditions.”

Sizes: 144, 148, 152, 156

Lib Tech TRS Slims ($560)

A Good Wood winner seven times in a row! Designed for dudes, then slimmed down for the ladies without losing anything but weight, it’s got the camber-rocker-camber combo that’s proven to take down any terrain and Magne-traction edges for tracking super tight turns. For even more control, internal sidewalls channel energy to the edges and tips. The flex changes with size so choose wisely.

Tester Feedback: “Perfect for anyone who loves snowboarding and wants to have the greatest time of their life.”

Sizes: 148, 151

Roxy Eminence ($539)

Torah Bright’s Olympic victory board strikes Good Wood gold for the fourth year in a row. Proven under pressure, this twin-shaped beauty can handle whatever you want to ride. C2 Banana gives a loose rocker feel at the center of the board, and cambered tips keep it stable. Magne-traction edges make it corner like crazy. If that’s not enough, it’s even gentler on the environment with a bio-plastic topsheet made from beans.

Tester Feedback: “The Eminence loves anyone who rides it. It’s super stable and forgiving. Very impressed with the overall ride. This board has it all!”

Sizes: 143, 146, 149, 152, 155

Nitro Fate ($400)

Predestined to rip. This directional twin comes with stable zero camber and a dual degressive sidecut to ease spins off the lip, but hold an edge on the landing. Tip-to-tail poplar in the core keep the deck light, strong, and flexible and a thinning of the core between the feet makes steering a cinch. For that skate vibe, a thin P-tex layer of the base scratches off when it comes in contact with jagged surfaces, while a second layer protects the insides.

Tester Feedback: “Built for an aggressive rider. The edge holds well in firm conditions. A great all-mountain shred stick.”

Sizes: 144, 147, 150, 153, 156

Gnu B-Pro ($540)

Tweaked to perfection over a decade by Barrett Christy, and constructed with the same tech as the TRS Slims repeat winner, it’s little surprise this board made the top 10. It’s jam-packed with goodies including rocker between the feet and camber past the bindings for both pow float and reduced edge catch on groomers. Magne-traction serrated edges boost turn bite for serious carves. A percentage of the proceeds support Boarding For Breast Cancer.

Tester Feedback: “This board is perfect for a girl that wants to rip everywhere. I rode it in rough conditions and it still felt like a dream.”

Sizes: 146, 149, 152, 155

Smokin Vixen ($460)

Last year’s Good Wood winner returns! Built for women’s needs, the twin shape and softer flex, take on jibs and jumps, but the rocker-between-the-feet, camber-outward profile make it adaptable to any terrain. The insides are dressed with the same aspen, fiberglass, and urethane goodness as all of Smokin’s boards. Grippy-ass Magne-traction edges produce carves as curvy as you want.

Tester Feedback: “I can’t say enough about this. It’s a super-fun, buttery board with great flex and pop. Good for an intermediate rider.”

Sizes: 144, 148, 153, 156
