The Ogden area resorts are firing up their lifts this Thanksgiving weekend to allow skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to experience “the Greatest Snow on Earth®”. Additionally, Powder Mountain is offering a Black Friday Sale for a White Christmas. Powder Mountain is celebrates its 40th season, officially opening Tuesday, November 22 for night skiing. Powder Mountain’s night skiing is available on the resort’s Sundown lift daily from 3 to 9 p.m. Powder currently boasts a 25″ snow base. Day skiing is anticipated to open soon. Snowbasin will open Thanksgiving Day with seven runs groomed and opened including Sweet Revenge, Bear Hollow, Snowshoe, Powder Puff, School Hill, Strawberry Traverse, Middle Bowl Traverse and Porcupine Traverse. Two lifts will be operational, Needles Gondola and Little Cat Express Quad. Snowbasin boasts more than 12″ of new snow and extensive snowmaking for an average base of 18 to 24″ on top to bottom runs. The “Rail Garden” terrain park will be open offering up to nine rail features. Additional terrain and lifts may open as early as this weekend. Wolf Mountain is anticipated to open Friday, November 25. It will open a portion of its 110-acre ski mountain. New additions to the resort this season are interior renovations to their barn lodge and a new cable on the popular Wolfdeedo Lift. “Everyone is excited to get back on the snow and opening conditions are good. It’s like a huge family reunion as we see old friends and familiar faces back after summer break. It’s one of the best times of the year for many reasons including lots of shred-able powder back in our mountains,” commented Gregg Greer, CEO of Powder Mountain. “Come enjoy the holidays with good reason to be thankful.” Powder Mountain adult night passes are $18, and children ages 7-12 are only $15. Children six and under ski free with a paying adult. Powder Mountain is also offering a Black Friday gift certificate sale from November 25 to December 2, 2011.
