The 6th edition of World Snowboard Day is quickly approaching, tomorrow the snowboard party begins! This year, as with other years, the major players in snowboarding from all over the world have come together. As of now there are 150 events in 34 countries, hundreds of free activities open to everyone and anyone in order to make Sunday, December 18th, an exceptional day full of awesome surprises!

World Snowboard Day will be celebrated for the 1st time in India, with an event at the ski resort in Manali. A short hike from the top of the resort leads to a 4000 meter summit, followed by a descent in untracked powder through the heart of one of the world’s wildest landscapes.

North America rallied more than ever before: there will be 29 events in the United States! The US is the country with the most events this year. Russia and Canada are in second, with 15 events each.

There are numerous countries accross Europe that also rallied their passion for snowboarding, putting together an exciting program: lift tickets and equipment tests for free in Oberaudorf, Germany, a barbecue and Jam Session in Grindelwald, Switzerland, free beginner lessons and an introduction to the « DC Live Park » in St Lary, France, a sneak preview of « The Art of Flight » in downtown Belgrade, Serbia, a photo contest in Hemsedal, Norway, costume day at the snowpark in Donovaly, Slovakia… You get the idea, the list is long!

The most surprising and out of the ordinary events for this 6th edition will without a doubt be in Australia, South Africa, and Chile! That’s right, even in the middle of summer snowboard enthusiasts from the Southern Hemisphere will also celebrate World Snowboard Day on Sunday, December 18th! The Australians will be tasked with showing us, via any means necessary, how much snowboarding means to them; Johannesburg has put together a film showing, and Santiago is orgazing a day of surfing lessons baptized «Summer Snowboard Day».
