International Snowboard Federation (ISF) was founded in 1991 and it is a leading snowboard organization, uniting clubs and associations from all over th world. In the winter season 1991/1992 ISF organized first events series for professionals, and in 1992 there was first world championship in Ischgl, Austria. At firts championships there took part above 240 competitors from 20 countries. Presenly the Federation organizes competition series and the championschips every year. These competitions take place in Europe, North America and in Japan. Only the members of associations which unite professional snowboarders can take part in these competitions. Official federation competitions are: halfpipe, parallel slalom, giant slalom, boardercross.

Halfpipe

In this competition the main task is to make tricks as high as possible and as much of them as possible. During this contest first it is organized elimination round and leter there is a final round. Woman always start first with the sequence agreeable to the ranking, so women from the first position starts first; it looks the same in the case of man. After the elimination round 8 woman and 16 man go to the final round. Contest is judged by 4 judges.

Parallel slalom

In this competition two riders are racing on the parallel situated tracks, on the run with a lenght of 300 m. On this route there are 25 little gates distant from each other for about 13m. Contest is composed of two qualifying rounds and one final round which consists in ellimination. Woman start first, beginning with the best ones, competiors who have the best times go to the final round. Competitor with worse times get penalty point; after getting two penalty points the competitor is excluded from the contest.

Giant slalom

Giant slalom is the fastest snowboard competition. The route for going down numbers 700 m and it is characterized with very soft bows and long ski jumps. On the route there are situated 25 little gates, every 20 m. During the contest there are organized two passages. To the second passage (gates arrangement is changed) 8 woman and 26 man are classified. And the winner is who will get the shortest total time in these two passages.

Snowcross

It is the youngest snowboard competition, which derives from motocross. In this competition 6 competitors starts simultaneously (alpine style riders and freestylers)who are competing with others on the route full of many different difficulties. Routes are divided into many sections like moguls, jumps, flat places and steepnesses. Rivalry takes place in four passages.
