Snow Racer

snow racerDescribed position isn't really anything special. Even four years ago, when the game appeared, it didn't present itself very good. Firts of all we can treat it's poor content as a joke of the programmers. What is more a very average joke, not to say that rather very very poor. Snowboard Racer contains just three tracks and 4 modes of the game. These mentioned tracks aren't very interesting visually, they don't charm us with an inventiveness and innovative "architectural solutions". Our purpose is to ride down fast and nothing more is important. Addictionally tracks are too narrow and sometimes it is difficult to hold yourself between two rock walls. One unguarded moment often ends with a fall what causes quite big time loss and sometimes it shatters our chances of achieving satisfactory time of the ride.

Interface also doesn't help to control the competitor who is riding down the hill- it is quite difficult to take control of him, he reacts with a delay for the keyboard pressing. Interface of the game, because of its resistance, makes it difficult to understand the game, instead of making it easier. We can choose just one from two available competitors- that is very poor number. Gloomy impression can't be also wipped out with a very poor options of board colouring (we have just four patterns). And what about game modes? Just a slalom and jumps on the snowboard. Slalom is very uninteresting and simply boring. Jumps at least are quite impressive- performances of the competitors are simply superhuman, but we must remember that it is just a game, where we don't think and just press buttons very fast. At least it looks a little bit spectacular (but at the same time misshapen). What about graphic and sound?

Well... here also the game creators didn't spoil us with anything special. There are too less details, pixels are noticeable. Graphic, which four years ago was a top of dreams for all players and was an absolute maximum of possibilities of then graphic cards, now doesn't give pleasure to anybody. Since 1998 the computer technology has developed so much, that visual setting of the Snowboard Racer now is really out of date and practically impossible to accept. Also the soundtrack of SR isn't very good tender card. Just four music backgrounds (a little bit of grunge, alternative and electronic music) and the sound of scraping off and beating of the ice anyway can't be ccconsidered as an advantage. Snowboard Racer is already a relic, and now it will be able to satisfy just the maniacs of this sport, but I think they will feel a small dissatisfaction. But if we consider the SR just as a supplement to the newspaper? Why not- buy it- because then we will have something to read.
